Harmony Biosciences’ Commitment to Rare Neurological Disease and Sleep Disorder Communities

As part of Sleep Awareness Week®, we welcome the contributions and perspectives of our sponsors. National Sleep Foundation (NSF) recognizes our Sleep Awareness Week 2023 Sponsors for their support of our sleep health mission and notes the information provided below does not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of NSF.
At Harmony Biosciences, we specialize in developing and delivering treatments for rare neurological diseases that others often overlook. We believe that where empathy and innovation meet, a better life can begin for people living with neurological diseases.
During Sleep Awareness Week 2023, we are pleased to share our commitment to supporting patient-centric initiatives within rare neurological disease and sleep disorder communities through our annual Patients at the Heart and Progress at the Heart Programs. Launched in 2019 and 2021, respectively, these programs provide funding opportunities for organizations providing innovative, comprehensive, and patient-centric initiatives that either a) directly support the unique challenges and profound needs of people living with sleep disorders and rare neurological diseases who experience excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) or b) help achieve greater equality within rare neurological disease communities.
The annual programs have supported diverse initiatives, ranging from a retreat to provide rare disease caregivers with new skills to care for their loved ones and develop their own self-care practices, to a behavioral and educational program for underrepresented high school students to raise awareness of the importance of healthy sleep for the prevention of cardiovascular and other chronic diseases.
“Combining empathy with innovation to improve the lives of people living with rare neurological diseases is a mission that drives everyone at Harmony Biosciences. We are pleased to support a diverse group of organizations that have each developed new and innovative patient-centric initiatives to help address the unique needs of people living with rare neurological diseases, or those in a broader sleep disorder community,” said Cate McCanless, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Harmony Biosciences.
Application periods for eligible 501(c)(3) or similarly credentialed nonprofit organizations opened on Tuesday, February 28 and close Friday, August 25, 2023. For more information on Patients at the Heart click here & Progress at the Heart click here.
